RASAMAYA® FOUNDATION YOGA is designed for the newcomer or the established practitioner looking for a gentle practice. In this class we will explore the basics of yoga poses as well as breathwork, meditation, structual alignment, and gentle flow.
RASAMAYA® FLOW YOGA is the balance between dynamic flow and stillness. Class opens with an intentional reading, breathwork and somatic movement before moving into creatively adapted sun salutes that will strenghten your body and increase your flexibility. This well rounded practice is finished with nourishing yin postures before settling into relaxation.
RASAMAYA® POWER YOGA classes develop core strength, mobility and muscular tone while quieting the mind. This class invites you to explore sun salutes and creative, fun, vigorous posture flows that incorporate intermediate twists, arm balances, and inversions. The class is taught in a multi-level format where more challenging postures are invited but not required by participants.
RASAMAYA® RESTORE YOGA is a balance between Yin Flow + Restorative Yoga. The perfect way to recharge your body. A Yin practice opens up the deep, dense, rarely touched tissues of the body. In this class you will hold postures for several minutes at a time to allow the connective tissue and fascia of the body to realign and relax while focusing on the breath, and the mind and body connection. Over time you will enjoy new depths in postures, deeper ranges of motion, and an increased flow of energy that can only be achieved by focusing on the deeper tissues of the body. Yin Yoga is based in the Taoist principals of Yin Philosophy which focuses on slowly stretching the connective tissue passively rather than muscle conditioning. Please note that "passive and slower moving" is not to be confused with "easy and boring." Yin postures can be very dynamic and energetic depending on your body. We encourage all students to listen to their body and go at their own pace. Restorative yoga poses utilizing props are offered at the close of class to allow the body to completely integrate the deeply nourishing experience.
RASAMAYA® PRENATAL YOGA Yoga is great for any mother to be! As your body changes in preparation for birth, yoga helps you to focus on your pregnancy in a deeper way. As we move through postures and breath work you will grow more confident and comfortable in your body. Yoga is a wonderful way to help and guide your body as it changes. We will create the space and time you need to integrate the process of change that is taking place within you, and to gradually adjust your priorities and your lifestyle. Classes are appropriate for any stage of pregnancy and any level of yoga practice. We will be focusing on: empowering yourself in the birthing process
- giving yourself the gift of time and space for self care and care for your baby
- easing the discomforts, aches, and fatigue caused by your changing body in pregnancy
- strengthening muscles and self awareness through the pregnancy and beyond
- working with the breath to calm the body and building a foundation of focused breathing for use in labor
- feeling good, safe, connected and at home in your ever-changing body
- building the support of a community of women in the birthing process.
Beginners to yoga will enjoy these classes as a way to connect with their bodies and those who are experienced practitioners will benefit from slowing down a little and honoring the changes in their bodies as they connect with other mothers. This is for anyone who is looking to connect with their body in a new way during their pregnancy. Please receive your physician's or midwife's verbal "ok" to exercise prior to coming to your first class.
