RASAMAYA® PILATES classes are based on the methodology of Joseph Pilates who in the 1920's developed a revolutionary system of exercises based on gymnastics, strength training and yoga. Pilates is known for its amazing ability to strengthen your core, improve back stability and create a long, lean supple look to the body. Pilates is one of the absolute best ways to get in shape either by the various pieces of Pilates Apparatus or through Pilates mat classes. Most studios feature both Pilates Mat and Apparatus Classes. As Rasamaya believes strongly in education all classes offer an anatomical focus.
Rasamaya is proud to be part of the Pilates Method Alliance's (PMA) Fostering Future Professionals program and offers comprehensive Pilates Teacher Trainings in residential, private and modular formats.
RASAMAYA® PILATES MAT consists of a series of floor based exercises that are designed to create uniform muscular development, core strength, breath capacity and pelvic floor control.
RASAMAYA® PILATES REFORMER TOWER is a favorite combination for many Pilates practitioners and features the most famous of all the machines designed by Joseph Pilates. The design includes a spring loaded moving carriage, pulleys and an an adjustable footbar. The resistance created by the springs and straps results in a dynamic engagement of your muscles resulting in a lengthened and strong body. Classes are offered for all levels of practitioner and include mat-based floor work.
RASAMAYA® PILATES CHAIR & ARC Joseph Pilates orignally designed the chair for home use. The Chair's unique design makes it useful whether you are seeking rehabilitation or new challenges in the form of pushups, handstands and backbends. The majority of Chair exercises are performed seated or standing providing excellent balance and core training. Classes also include mat-based floor work utlizling the Pilates Arc (also called the spine corrector). The Arc is a useful tool in stretching the spine and shoulders and will also add variety and challenge to your traditional mat workout.
RASAMAYA® PRENATAL PILATES
Strengthen your back and pelvic floor, and tone and stretch your body to help create a more comfortable pregnancy and delivery. Prenatal Pilates will help you keep your body energized and your mind relaxed. A strong focus is placed on proper alignment as well as pelvic floor tone and leg and arm strength. Participants are encouraged to move at their own pace. Class are offered both for mat and apparatus and are appropriate for women who already have an exercise program in place or are starting exercise before their second trimester.
